This is where it all started,
in 1981 the first plane produced by Tom Lie-Nielsen commercially
was the No. 95. Unique in
its form, this adaptation of the original design is cast in
manganese bronze to produce a low angle skew block plane with
an integral fixed fence set at 90° to the sole as part
of the casting. In this form it can be used to establish a
face and edge
at absolutely 90° to one another or, by angling the blade
or applying packing pieces to the fence, variations can achieved.
Running the plane to a clamped straight edge can be used to
shoot a precise butt joint. Supplied with manganese bronze
body, A2 tool steel cryogenically treated blade and other fitments
in solid brass and steel.
